Royal Antwerp

In early January 2006, Danny Simpson was sent on loan, along with three other United youths, to the Belgian Second Division club Royal Antwerp F.C. for the remainder of the season, to gain match experience. Blackburn Rovers

On 4 August 2008, Simpson signed for Blackburn Rovers F.C. on a season-long loan deal. Simpson made Danny Simpson Blackburn debut on 27 August 2008, playing in Rovers' 4–1 win over Grimsby Town F.C. in the Football League Cup Second Round.
